Finish That Quilt

Morning Class: 10am – 1pm

Afternoon Class: 2pm - 5pm

It’s time to finish that quilt! You know, that one you started a while ago and is taking up that space on your kitchen table. During this class Aimee will help you finish that quilt project you’ve been holding on to forever while practicing you quilting skills.

Supply List:

Materials needed:

  • Quilting Project you want to finish

  • Fabrics that you will need to finish the project

  • Pattern and any special instructions needed to finish your project

Tools needed:

The classroom is equipped with ironing boards, irons, cutting mat and rulers for you to use, if you are short on a tool or two I have extras for you to borrow during instruction just make sure to reserve the items when signing up for the class.

  • Sewing Machine and Accessories
    *Make sure your machine is operating and bring all your machine feet including a walking foot, power cord, and foot control

  • 45mm Rotary Cutter or larger

  • Acrylic Rulers- size 6 ½”x 24 ½” and 12 ½”x 12 ½”

  • 18”x 24” Self-healing mat or larger

  • Glass head pins

  • Seam Ripper

  • Fabric Scissors- large and small

  • Measuring tape

  • Fabric marking pens/pencils

  • Any other special tools needed to work on your quilt project

T-Shirt Quilt

Find all those old shirts cause we’re makin’ a T-shirt quilt! Together we plan, prepare, cut, and sew all those special shirts to make a unique quilt full of beautiful memories!

Supply List:

Materials needed:

  • T-Shirts (Clean)

  • Fusible Interfacing (Determine amount based on number of shirts, 1 yd will get you about 3 shirts interfaced)

  • Approximately 2 yds of fabric for sashing (this is subject to change based on the number of shirts and how big your sashing it)

  • Sewing thread- I like using a neutral thread for piecing and a decorative thread for the quilting part, consider using a color that will either blend with your fabric or accent the fabric

Sign up for this class and learn how to use and take care of your sewing machine from Aimee, an experienced quilter and sewing machine guru.

Quilted Placemat

Quilted Placemat

May 9th      6pm-9pm          $50

Together we will make a placemat using the Placemat with Pocket pattern by Quilt with Aimee. Our goal in this class is to show you all the fundamentals of quilting by working on a small project. You will learn proper cutting, pressing, pinning and sewing techniques, as well as layering, basting, quilting and binding to finish up the project. The price of this class includes instruction and a hard copy of the Placemat with Pocket pattern. During class we will be making one placemat, but the pattern’s material list will create four placemats total.

This pattern is being debut at the retreat and won’t be released to the quilting world until Summer 2019. With a combined 34 years of quilting expertise you will learn new techniques, make new friends, and quite possibly even finish a few UFO’S!

Quilt Academy: Binding

Quilt Academy: Binding

April 24th    6pm-9pm          $20

Binding your quilt will give it a beautiful finished edge. In this class you will learn the difference between cross grain vs bias binding, how to cut on the bias of your fabric, sew strips together, and sew them to your quilt. You will also learn how to hand binding and binding with your machine.

Basting your quilt is the process of taking your top, batting and backing and sandwiching it together using spray adhesive and curved pins. You will also learn how to stitch lines using your sewing machine and walking foot.

Got a bunch of flannel laying around? What about some old flannel shirts? Gather them all up and let’s make a rag quilt! Using the Rag Quilt pattern by Quilt with Aimee we create a quick and easy rag quilt to use of some of those scrap pieces of flannel you just can’t let go of. The price of the class includes instruction and a hard copy of the Rag Quilt pattern.

·       Batting (optional) (30) 7x7 square

·       Coordinating thread

The classroom is equipped with ironing boards, irons, cutting mat and rulers for you to use, if you are short on a tool or two I have extras for you to borrow during instruction just make sure to reserve the items when signing up for the class.

There are several styles of borders. In this class we learn the difference between a traditional straight border and a mitered border. You will learn both methods while attaching a mitered border to a sample piece.
